Introduction:

Chiu Kwong-chiu’s first book on Chinese architecture, which was well received by the public, cultural academics as well as professionals, has become the main reference book for architecture and design institutions.

The Chinese made paper out of wood and carved words on wooden boards for printing. Then they built wooden architecture, which in turn built up the history of architecture and development of craftsmanship. To the Chinese, the form and structure of a house can be applied to anything: chairs and wardrobes are houses in miniature, while sedan chairs and boats are portable houses.
