Published First Step in Chinese Painting: the Chinese art and Cultural Education Teaching Kit and hosted a seminar and a workshop

Commissioned by the Hong Kong Art School, the Workshop produced First Step in Chinese Painting: the Chinese art and Cultural Education Teaching Kit, which is designed specifically for Hong Kong secondary school teachers and students, so as to foster the students’ sense of beauty, art experience and understanding of the Chinese culture. Modeled on No Mere Chinese Painting, the program follows the sequence of the Chinese painting theory “An Expounding on the Six Methods” and adopts a lively and concise teaching methodology. Upon the publication of the teaching kit, the Hong Kong Art School and the Workshop hosted a corresponding seminar and workshop. In the workshop, scholars and senior insiders shared their understanding of the teaching kit, so as to enhance the participants’ knowledge on Chinese painting arts. Editors and authors also briefed the participants on the teaching kit. A succession of speeches were delivered in the seminar—Raymond Tang, Assistant Curator I, Hong Kong Museum of Art: “How to comprehend Chinese Paintings;” Chan Kwok Pui, Academic Head, Hong Kong Art School: “From Chinese Calligraphy to Typography” and MA Kwai-Shun, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Creative Arts and Physical Education, the Hong Kong Institute of Education: “Comparison and Contrast for Visual Art Teaching.”
