The folding screens in Shengliu Study in Yuanmingyuan, the Old Summer Palace, have been decorated with paintings of the Twelve Beauties ever since Emperor Yongzheng was still Prince Yong. The beauties are still elegant and gentle after three hundred years of time. In the realistic portraits of colourful brushwork, we may discern the seasonal changes, the decline and flourish of the plant, interior display, as well as fashions. There are twelve finely printed and laminated leaflets in this collector’s edition to enable the readers to have careful observation of each beauty.
