Chiu Kwong-chiu and well-known curator Cheung Chung-yan cooperated on the “Thing-ing Laboratory.” The objective of the Laboratory is to study the correlation between traditional utensils —the form, material, production, using behaviour, space and order—and modern life. With thorough understanding of traditional utensils, the Laboratory will bring out feasible design proposal and reinforce the influence of traditional culture to modern design, so as to improve and enhance the quality of livelihood of contemporary China. The Laboratory will also initiate educational activities of cultural exchange, to enhance the society’s ability to appreciate traditional utensils and esthetics.
